The Greene County Historical Society will have its official annual meeting, with election of a new president and board members, and presentation of the 2016 budget Friday, Dec. 4, at the Greenewood Center in Jefferson. The gathering includes a Christmas lunch and entertainment.
The meal at 12 noon is $8 for Historical Society members, and they should make reservations by Wednesday, Dec. 2, with the group’s community contacts. Others can RSVP for lunch to programs chairperson Mary Weaver at 515-360-8046.
After lunch, there will be seasonal entertainment by Greene County High School students in a brass quintet, led by band director Wes Anderson.
Nominated as new Historical Society president is the Rev. Dale Hanaman of Rippey. He will be succeeding Ces Brunow of Jefferson, who has served as president two years and will now serve as past-president. Nominated for the board of directors are Nick Foster, Joyce Ausberger and Dave Bohnet, all of Jefferson, succeeding board members Dick Pound, Alan Robinson and Mary Weaver, whose terms are ending.
Continuing in their positions are secretary Janet Durlam of Jefferson; treasurer Dallas Schrader of Jefferson; and board members Paul White of Churdan, Becki Cunningham of Paton, Mary Lynch of Jefferson, Chuck Offenburger of Cooper, and Nancy Hanaman of Rippey.
